Allowing Yourself To Be You:
The Power of Being Authentic:
In a world that is filled with constant comparisons, opinions, and expectations being yourself can feel like the hardest thing to do
On social media and during everyday conversations we are surrounded by images of how we are “supposed
to look, act, think, and live. It can be tempting to change ourselves to fit the version that we think other people will accept.
But the problem, is that if you are living to make everyone else happy you will consistently be miserable and disconnected from who you really are.
What Does It Mean To Be Yourself:
Being yourself does not mean that you will never change or grow, it means being honest about who you are, what you value, and what makes you different.
Being authentic is about letting go of the pressure to constantly impress people. It means you will be comfortable saying “this is who I am” even though you know not everyone will understand you.
You do not have to have the same dreams of everyone else. You do not have to follow anyone’s timeline other than yours.
& you should never have to pretend to be someone you’re not just to belong. We all need a sense of belonging but the more you allow yourself to be you, the more you will be able to put yourself in positions to meet your people.
Why is Authenticity so important?
To be inauthentic to yourself means you will slowly loose touch with who you are. Saying yes when you want to say no is another moment when create a disconnect internally because you know what you need and want but you are doing the opposite to conform to the desires of others.
When you live authentically you are creating a different type of freedom and you stop living in fear.
You begin to make decisions based on what genuinely matters to you rather than what will earn approval & that increases confidence because you no longer have to worry about maintaining an image.
Your Relationships Will Improve:
The relationships in your life will deepen because you are allowing people to see the real you and that will create a more honest and meaningful connection.
Some Reminders:
You do not have to be perfect, to be authentic does not mean you have to have everything figured out.
You can be confident AND still have insecurities. To be authentic means you start to accept the imperfect parts of who you are.
Instead of asking “how can I become perfect?” start to ask “How can I become more comfortable being me?”
Growth becomes easier when it comes from self-acceptance rather than self-rejection.
